I have Tom Lehrer’s song ringing in my head as I write this … ‘spring is here, spring is here … ‘, but it isn’t, is it? And hasn’t been.

Okay, perhaps some of the time, as very occasionally there hs been enough blue sky to make a pair of sailor’s trousers (our mother’s litmus test when we were young), or there might have been a day over the last few weeks when taking an umbrella out may have been a silly idea, but REALLY?
